PM’s Egypt, Jordan Chair 33rd Session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Jaafar Hassan chaired an extensive discussion session as part of the 33rd session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee. The discussions focused on mechanisms to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various economic fields, as well as exchanging views on politically relevant issues of mutual interest.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions were attended by several Egyptian officials, including Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport; Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and International Cooperation; Engineer Mahmoud Asmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy; Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, Acting Minister of Environment; Mr. Ahmed Kouchak, Minister of Finance; Mr. Mohamed Ghabran, Minister of Labour; Ambassador Ihab Fahmy, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Arab Affairs; Ambassador Mohamed Samir, Ambassador of Egypt to Jordan; and Mr. Ibrahim Al-Sagini, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Agency, along with several ministers and officials from the Jordanian side.

During the meeting, the Jordanian Prime Minister expressed his country's aspirations to establish an administrative city to house government institutions, seeking to benefit from the expertise of Egyptian companies, given Egypt's experience in establishing its administrative capital. In response, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly confirmed his eagerness to cooperate with Jordan on this initiative.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly also extended congratulations to the Jordanian Prime Minister on assuming his duties and requested that he convey the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to King Abdullah II, the Jordanian monarch, highlighting the depth of bilateral relations at the level of political leadership and between the two nations.

Addressing the expanded discussions, the Egyptian Prime Minister reaffirmed ongoing efforts for cooperation and coordination between the political leadership in Cairo and Amman, stressing solidarity in confronting challenges related to the Palestinian cause. He noted the coordination efforts between Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to reach a ceasefire agreement and to host a conference for early recovery and reconstruction once an agreement is finalized.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Jordan for its care of the Egyptian workforce present in the country and the good treatment they receive, appreciating the coordination between both sides concerning Egyptian labor and the Jordanian government's support for Egyptians working there.
