FM Asserts Egypt’s Rejection of Attempts to Annex Palestinian Territories

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty affirmed during a phone call with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, Egypt's categorical rejection of any attempts to annex Palestinian territories, forcibly displace Palestinians, or alter the legal and demographic status of the occupied territories in a manner that entrenches a fait accompli policy and undermines prospects for establishing a Palestinian state.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the call came as part of ongoing consultations and coordination over developments in the occupied Palestinian territories. During the call, Abdelatty stressed Egypt's full support for the Palestinian Authority and its national institutions, as well as the importance of enabling them to assume their responsibilities in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank in a manner that preserves the unity of Palestinian territories and supports the Palestinian people's aspirations to establish an independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The two sides also discussed developments in the Gaza Strip and Egyptian efforts, in coordination with mediators, to move forward with implementing the roadmap and the provisions of the peace plan of US President Donald Trump. These include an Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid, launching early recovery and reconstruction, enabling the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to enter the Strip, and deploying the international stabilization force, in a way that contributes to consolidating stability and creating conditions for a just and comprehensive political solution.

The two officials also discussed dangerous developments in the occupied West Bank. Abdelatty condemned illegal settlement expansion, the escalation of settler violence, and attacks against Palestinians and their property.

For his part, the Palestinian premier expressed appreciation for Egypt's steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and for its efforts to support the Palestinian Authority and its national institutions and defend the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He affirmed his commitment to continuing close coordination and consultations with Egypt regarding various developments during the coming period.
