PM: Health, Education Top State Priorities

Minya: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli stated that health and education are prioritized in the State's development projects, aligning with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives to enhance the Egyptian citizen's quality of life. In a press conference following his tour of development and service projects in Minya, Madbouli emphasized the governorate's inclusion in the second phase of the comprehensive health insurance system, necessitating expedited health project implementation.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouli praised the significant expansion in Minya University hospitals. The bed capacity has increased from approximately 1,700 to over 2,750 with the addition of 1,050 beds this year, complementing Ministry of Health facilities in preparation for the health insurance rollout. He highlighted that hospitals are being upgraded to meet advanced technical standards, with modern medical devices and operating rooms enhancing healthcare services for residents.

Madbouli underscored that the health sector remains at the forefront of Egypt's national agenda, with the government striving to deliver advanced medical services to Upper Egypt, which were previously unavailable. During his visit, Madbouli inspected several industrial facilities, including a sugar plant aimed at achieving self-sufficiency, a ready-made garments factory, and an agricultural products drying plant.

The Prime Minister noted that the garment factory creates thousands of jobs, with about 90% of the workforce being women. Expansion plans over the next two years aim to triple employment, exceeding 9,000 workers. He stressed that the majority of output from the garments and agricultural processing plants targets exports, contributing to foreign currency inflows and addressing the trade deficit.

Madbouli explained that the government's factory visits focus on engaging directly with investors to swiftly address challenges and facilitate expansion. The tour also included Hayah Karima 'Decent Life' projects, covering villages such as Tuna el-Gabal and Beni Hassan el-Shorouk, alongside a triple sewage treatment plant serving over 80,000 residents previously lacking sanitation services.

Finally, the Prime Minister highlighted the handover of new replacement housing for families from unsafe areas, following President El Sisi's directives. He concluded the tour with a visit to major urban projects, including a new regional transport terminal linking Minya with North Upper Egypt.
