Egypt Retains Seat on FARA Board Until 2029

Abuja: Egypt has secured the renewal of its membership on the executive board of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) until 2029, the Agriculture Ministry said on Saturday. The Ministry stated that the decision, which renews Egypt's representation through the Agricultural Research Center, reflects continued African confidence in the country's role in agricultural research and sustainable agricultural development.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the renewal was approved during meetings of FARA's board and general assembly, held on the sidelines of the Ninth Africa Agriculture Science Week in Abuja, Nigeria. Deputy Head of the Agricultural Research Center Maher el-Maghrabi emphasized that Egypt is working to translate scientific research into practical applications that boost agricultural productivity, improve farmers' incomes, strengthen food security, and promote the efficient use of natural resources.

El-Maghrabi also highlighted Egypt's experience in climate-smart agriculture, modern irrigation, high-yield crop varieties, and agricultural technology transfer. He stressed the country's long-standing cooperation with African nations to support sustainable agricultural development and food security.
