San francisco: Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy engaged in discussions with prominent US tour operators and travel agencies in San Francisco to enhance collaboration and promote Egypt as a multifaceted tourism destination. This initiative was part of the minister's visit to inaugurate the "Treasures of the Pharaohs" exhibition during its inaugural stop in the United States.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Fathy detailed the ministry's strategic plan to highlight Egypt's extensive tourism offerings, focusing on the nation's capability to provide varied travel experiences within a single trip. Additionally, he announced the trial launch of a new digital visa-on-arrival system at Cairo International Airport set to commence on August 1, aimed at simplifying the entry process for tourists.

The Minister reported a 4 percent increase in tourist arrivals to Egypt during the first half of the year, with a 2 percent rise in visitors from the US market. He conveyed optimism about achieving further growth by expanding partnerships with US travel companies. The discussions also delved into potential joint marketing campaigns, familiarization trips, luxury and adventure tourism, and transit-based travel programs.

US tour operators have noted a rising interest in travel to Egypt, with particularly strong bookings anticipated for 2027. This surge is driven by the total solar eclipse expected to be visible from Luxor on August 2, 2027.
