Minya: The Board of the Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) approved the final report on the handover of healthcare assets in Minya Governorate, including 60 family medicine centers and units and seven hospitals, marking a key milestone in the governorate's preparations for the official rollout of the Universal Health Insurance System (UHIS) as the first governorate in the scheme's second phase.

According to State Information Service Egypt, EHA Chairman Ahmed El Sobky stated that the swift completion of the asset handover process would help ensure the governorate's operational readiness and support the delivery of integrated, high-quality healthcare services.

The board also reviewed the preliminary financial performance report for fiscal year 2025/2026, which showed that spending on medical services provided to UHIS beneficiaries exceeded EGP 26 billion. Of the total, 35% was financed by the state budget, while 65% came from the authority's own resources.

Medical service revenues rose by 59% compared with the previous fiscal year, while non-medical revenues, medical tourism income, and cash-based treatment services for non-beneficiaries increased by more than 37%.

Medical service costs rose 42%, driven by expanded healthcare coverage and ongoing quality improvements.

The board also approved the provision of accommodation for out-of-town employees working at the authority's Suez branch and affiliated healthcare facilities.
