Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty engaged in a phone conversation with Djiboutian Foreign Minister Abdoulkader Houssein Omar to deliberate on enhancing bilateral relations and regional developments in the Horn of Africa.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussion underscored the growing momentum in Egyptian-Djiboutian relations, emphasizing a mutual commitment to advancing ties in various sectors, notably economic, trade, and investment cooperation. This aligns with the leadership directives of both nations to foster collaboration in renewable energy, construction, logistics, and maritime connectivity.

Abdelatty highlighted the significance of bolstering the involvement of the private sector and Egyptian enterprises in supporting Djibouti's national development strategies. Additionally, he elaborated on preparations for the upcoming African Union mid-year summit in El Alamein, scheduled for October 4. The summit will be preceded by the inaugural African Business Summit, part of the El Alamein Business Forum for Africa, designed to enhance economic and investment partnerships across the continent.

The forum, set to occur biennially in New Alamein City, follows a resolution from the African Union summit held in Addis Ababa last February. Abdelatty expressed the forum's pivotal role as a platform for collaboration among African leaders, senior officials, business figures, and private sector representatives.

In addressing the Horn of Africa's developments, both ministers shared insights on recent security and political trends in the region, exploring strategies to support stability and foster peace and security, particularly in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea.
