Suez Canal Economic Zone Chairman Witnesses Laying of Foundation Stone for “Trigas” Project

Cairo: Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority Walid Gamal El-Din attended the ceremony this morning for the laying of the foundation stone for the Trigas project, which involves the filling and manufacturing of composite LPG cylinders made from fiberglass. This project is located in the industrial zone of Sokhna, within the area of the industrial developer (the Egyptian-Chinese Joint Company / Main Development Company). It will cover an area of 10,400 square meters, with a total investment cost of 14 million euros, equivalent to 310 million Egyptian pounds, and will be implemented in two phases. The first phase aims to build a factory for the manufacturing and filling of composite LPG cylinders, with a production capacity of up to 500,000 cylinders annually, using advanced technology in accordance with international standards, along with the transfer and localisation of technology and the establishment of the necessary infrastructure, creating 250 direct job opportunities. The second phase of the project aims to set up assembly lines for the pressure regulators and valves for the cylinders manufactured in the first phase, with an investment cost of 7 million euros, with the goal of localising the technology for manufacturing these components. The foundation stone ceremony was attended by Mr. Ivan Jukl, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Cairo, Dr. Abdel Fattah Hegag, Chairman of Trigas, Dr. Amani Eid, CEO of Ibda, and several executive leaders from the authority.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Mr. Walid Gamal El-Din expressed his happiness at the launch of this ambitious project implemented by the Egyptian company "Trigas" in cooperation with the Czech company HPC, which is the technological partner for the project, as part of a distinguished industrial partnership based on the exchange of expertise, the transfer of advanced technology, and maximising the benefits for all parties involved in the project. This project is seen as a foundation for an industrial vision that focuses on deepening local manufacturing, relying on advanced technology and localising it, and meeting the requirements of global markets, which contributes to supporting the national economy and enhancing its competitiveness regionally and globally.

Mr. Walid Gamal El-Din added that the philosophy of the Suez Canal Economic Zone is based on providing an attractive investment environment that goes beyond just providing land or infrastructure; it also includes building an integrated system that offers world-class services, facilitates procedures, provides competitive incentives, and ensures logistical connectivity between projects and global markets.

For his part, Mr. Ivan Jukl, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Cairo, expressed his happiness with this collaboration and confirmed that there are more opportunities for cooperation with Czech investments and the Suez Canal Economic Zone. He praised the efforts made by the economic zone to encourage its investors to export and reach various markets, and he admired that the Trigas project aims to become a regional player in the field of manufacturing composite LPG cylinders.

Dr. Abdel Fattah Hegag stated that many joint efforts have been made to ensure the success of this project and turn it into a reality on the ground. He thanked the Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority and the entire team at the authority for their support of this project, and he confirmed that the Suez Canal Economic Zone was the ideal choice for the project after research and study due to its distinguished location and the integration between industrial zones and ports, which supports the ease of exporting the project's products.

It is worth noting that this project represents a partnership between the Egyptian company Trigas and the Czech company HPC Research, with the participation of several local companies, including Ibda for Projects, Petrogas, and Butagasco, alongside contributions from private sector investors, with the aim of transferring and localising the technology for manufacturing composite cylinders to Egypt, including the design and production of equipment and information technology systems (MES), while adhering to international quality standards (ISO 11119-3).
