Davos: Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan el Khatib confirmed the government's commitment to supporting and expanding the investments of the global company Saint-Gobain in the Egyptian market. This announcement was made during his meeting with company officials on the sidelines of his participation in the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, where both parties explored opportunities to strengthen existing investments and pursue expansion plans in building materials and sustainable solutions.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Khatib expressed the government's enthusiasm for Saint-Gobain's expansion plans, particularly the establishment of a second flat glass production line. He highlighted the country's appreciation for the significant investments made by the company since it began operations in Egypt in 2008. These investments are seen as a testament to the confidence international investors have in the Egyptian economy and the stability of its investment environment.
Khatib emphasized the importance of boosting industrial exports and noted that transforming Egypt into a regional hub for production and export is a central pillar of the state's investment strategy. This approach is expected to enhance the competitiveness of the national economy.
Meanwhile, Saint-Gobain officials reiterated the company's commitment to strengthening sustainability practices in the Egyptian market. They explained that the company has invested in solar energy projects to ensure 100% sustainable electricity for some of its industrial operations, alongside providing advanced construction solutions. These solutions include solar control glass that can reduce heat by 60% to 70%, supporting energy efficiency and sustainable building trends.
