Paris: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised the ongoing cooperation between Egypt and UNESCO across the organization's various fields of work, including education, digitalization, and the development of technical and vocational education, where the Egyptian government has made remarkable progress to meet labor market needs and contribute to comprehensive development. Abdelatty's remarks came at a meeting on Monday with Chair of the UNESCO Executive Board Vera el Khoury on the sidelines of his leadership of Egypt's delegation to the Executive Board meetings of the organization in Paris.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty expressed Egypt's appreciation for the role of the Executive Board in formulating and overseeing the implementation of UNESCO's mandates across its areas of work, with the goal of promoting peace and spreading culture, knowledge, and creativity.
Separately, the minister also met with the permanent delegate of China to UNESCO, who currently chairs the Group of Asia and the Pacific States, also on the sidelines of the Executive Board meetings in Paris. He expressed appreciation for China's efforts in its leadership of the Asia-Pacific group at UNESCO, praising the active role it plays in defending the shared interests of the Global South within the organization. Abdelatty also highlighted the extensive experience and high competence of the Arab and African candidate for the position of UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany, affirming his strong qualifications for the post.
He emphasized Enany's ambitious vision for the development of the organization along with strengthening its role on the international stage.
