Cairo: Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation Rania Al Mashat has emphasized that Egyptian-South Korean relations extend beyond mere bilateral ties. She noted that Egypt serves as a gateway for South Korea to access Africa, leveraging its strategic geographical location and the connections it provides to various countries on the continent. This statement was made during her meeting with South Korea's presidential envoy Park Beom-Kye to discuss enhancing joint cooperation.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the South Korean Embassy's celebration of Korea's National Day and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Egypt and South Korea. The minister extended her congratulations to the South Korean official on the occasion and expressed appreciation for the close relations between the two countries, which have seen continuous development over the past three decades.
She highlighted the planned mutual visits between the leaderships of both nations in the coming years, which are expected to provide significant momentum towards strengthening their strategic partnership. Mashat emphasized that Egypt's role as a strategic partner for South Korea in development cooperation has led to a diversification of projects being implemented.
Furthermore, Mashat discussed her participation in the Korea-Africa Summit, where she had the honor of meeting the South Korean President. The summit focused on Egyptian-South Korean relations that transcend bilateral cooperation, aiming at regional integration that extends deeply into the African and Asian continents through trade exchanges and joint investments, as noted by the minister.
