Egypt and Netherlands Discuss Agricultural Cooperation Expansion

Rome: Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, met with Dutch Minister for Fishery, Food Security, Horticulture and Nature Conservation, Jean Rummenie, on the sidelines of the EU-Africa Agriculture and Food Security Conference in Rome. During their meeting, the ministers explored opportunities for expanding agricultural cooperation between Egypt and the Netherlands.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions focused on various key areas, including seed production, citrus and vegetable crops, agricultural cooperatives, flower exports, irrigation modernization, and private sector investment. The Dutch Minister expressed interest in enhancing collaboration on climate-resilient seeds and agricultural technology, while also welcoming Egypt's progress on meat imports and potato seed trade.

Both ministers agreed on the importance of strengthening partnerships in trade, technology, and food security to benefit both nations. Currently, Egypt's exports to the Netherlands are valued at $500 million annually, while Dutch exports to Egypt amount to $300 million.
