Egypt and Morocco Strengthen Ties Through Constitutional Justice Cooperation

Cairo: Egypt's Ambassador to Morocco, Ahmed Nihad Abdel Latif, and the President of Morocco's Constitutional Court, Mohamed Amine Benabdallah, have praised the cooperation between their countries in various fields, with a particular focus on constitutional justice.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Egyptian ambassador expressed interest in learning from Morocco's experience in constitutional justice, highlighting the importance of mutual visits, such as the recent visit by the Moroccan court president to Cairo in January for a high-level meeting of African constitutional courts.

The Moroccan official provided an overview of the Constitutional Court's history, composition, and working mechanisms, and expressed appreciation for Egypt's expertise in the field. The meeting underscored ongoing coordination between the two nations in both international and regional forums related to constitutional justice. Abdel Latif emphasized the significance of mutual visits, noting the recent participation of Morocco's Constitutional Court President in the eighth High-Level Cairo Meeting of Presidents of Constitutional Courts, Supreme Courts, and African Constitutional Councils.

The discussions also addressed the memorandum of understanding signed between the Egyptian and Moroccan constitutional courts during the Moroccan president's visit to Egypt in October 2024. Both sides highlighted the importance of implementing programs to strengthen ties between the two courts.
