Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli attended the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Urban Development Fund (UDF) and Azza Fahmy Foundation for the Development of Handicrafts Industries. The MoU aims to establish an integrated cultural and training center for teaching handicrafts in Old Cairo's Darb al-Labbana neighborhood.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the agreement was signed by UDF Chairman Khaled Sedeek and Chairwoman of the Foundation Azza Abdel-Moneim Fahmy. The signing took place during the launch ceremony of the 2025 Fustat Winter Festival, which is being hosted by the Fustat Hills Park from November 14 to December 5.
Madbouli highlighted that this MoU is a significant step towards creating an open museum for handicrafts in Historic Cairo. The initiative aims to ensure the sustainability of these crafts and their transmission to future generations. He emphasized this partnership as a model of collaboration among the state, civil society, and cultural leaders to preserve Egyptian identity.
Sedeek commented that this collaboration is an outcome of the state's efforts to support creative industries and traditional crafts. He stressed the importance of involving leading figures in this field to achieve these goals.
