Egyptian FM and Palestinian VP Advocate for Territorial Unity in Palestinian Territories

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh emphasized the vital need to maintain the territorial integrity of the Palestinian territories in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, urging the empowerment of the Palestinian Authority to fulfill its responsibilities.According to State Information Service Egypt, the two leaders discussed recent developments in the Palestinian territories during a phone conversation, which was part of their ongoing coordination efforts. Abdelatty voiced strong condemnation of Israel's settlement expansion, increasing violence by settlers, and violations occurring in East Jerusalem and at Al-Aqsa Mosque. He reaffirmed Egypt's firm opposition to the settlement project in the 'E1' area, highlighting the risks it poses to dividing the West Bank, isolating East Jerusalem, and jeopardizing the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.Their discussions also touched on the progress of US President Donald Trump's peace plan, focusing on the commitments from the first phase and the transition to the second phase. This includes ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza and facilitating the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to execute its responsibilities from within the Strip.Al-Sheikh expressed gratitude for Egypt's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and its dedication to upholding the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, underscoring the importance of continued coordination and consultations in the future.
