FM Praises Strong Egyptian-German Ties in Phone Call with German Counterpart

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Sunday, August 23, 2026, praised the distinguished relations between Egypt and Germany and the growing momentum in ties across various fields during a phone call with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul. The two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, as well as a number of regional issues.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty stressed Egypt's keenness on further advancing the partnership between the two countries and strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic, trade, investment, and energy sectors, as well as vocational training, labor mobility, and development, in a way that would help serve shared interests of both sides.

On the Palestinian issue, Abdelatty outlined Egypt's established stand on the latest developments, stressing the need to intensify international efforts to halt the escalation and reject any attempts to undermine the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He underscored the importance of preserving the unity of the Palestinian territory and supporting the Palestinian National Authority and enabling it to carry out its responsibilities.

The call also covered developments related to the Iranian issue. Abdelatty further underscored the importance of continued diplomatic and negotiating efforts and prioritizing dialogue to help contain tensions, de-escalate the situation, prevent the conflict from spreading, and preserve regional and international security and stability.

For his part, the German minister praised the momentum in relations between the two friendly countries and Egypt's role in promoting security and stability, de-escalation, and peaceful solutions in the region.
