PM Inspects Rayania Wastewater Pumping Station in Luxor During Tour of Governorate

Luxor: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and his accompanying delegation inspected the Rayania Wastewater Pumping Station in the Armant district as part of his tour of the Luxor Governorate. The inspection is part of the first phase of the "Decent Life" Presidential Initiative.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Sherif el Sherbiny briefed the Prime Minister on the progress of drinking water and sanitation projects throughout the Luxor Governorate. The National Organization For Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage (NOPWASD) is responsible for 77 projects in the governorate, with a total cost of EGP 8.58 billion. From 2014 to 2025, 35 of these projects have been completed.

Sherbiny highlighted that the first phase of the "Decent Life" initiative includes 26 projects, of which 21 have been completed, and five are ongoing with a total investment of EGP 3.4 billion. Additionally, seven other projects are part of the second phase of the initiative.

The Minister also explained that nine more projects are being executed under the investment plan, which includes drinking water and sanitation projects in both urban and rural areas.

NOPWASD Chairman Amin Shawky further elaborated that the first phase of "Decent Life" projects in Luxor encompasses 26 villages within the Armant and Esna centers, affecting seven villages in Armant and 19 in Esna. The projects involve the construction of 32 pumping stations, 30 force mains measuring a total of 125.3 km in length, gravity networks spanning 385 km, and two wastewater treatment plants with capacities ranging from 25,000 to 55,000 cubic meters per day. Shawky also provided detailed plans for the sanitation systems in Armant, as well as in eastern and western Esna.
