Cairo: Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar reviewed with his Chadian counterpart Abdelmajid Abdelrahim ways to enhance cooperation across several fields, especially by supporting therapeutic services, building the capacities of medical cadres, and cooperating in training and medical education.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during a meeting with Abdelrahim at the Chadian Ministry of Public Health headquarters in N'Djamena, Abdel Ghaffar discussed ways to bolster cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry, as work is underway to sign a cooperation agreement enabling the export of Egyptian medicines to Chad. The deal is expected to leverage Egyptian expertise to provide high-quality pharmaceuticals that meet the needs of the Chadian health sector, as noted by Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.
The meeting was arranged in pursuance of directives issued by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for strengthening cooperation ties with sisterly African nations and supporting the healthcare system in Chad. During the meeting, Abdel Ghaffar emphasized Egypt's keenness to provide all forms of support to Chad and contribute to the development of health services in the African country.
The talks also covered mechanisms for supporting and qualifying human resources through specialized training programs and transferring Egyptian expertise across various medical specialties. "The ministers also discussed ways to support cardiology departments at Chadian hospitals through medical staff training," the spokesman noted.
Meanwhile, the Chadian minister hailed the existing cooperation between both countries, commending the achievements of Egyptian physicians in ophthalmology, who performed approximately 500 advanced eye surgeries. Abdelrahim stressed the importance of continued cooperation in capacity building and benefiting from Egypt's experience.
The meeting took place shortly before a scheduled inspection by Abdel Ghaffar of the dialysis center at the N'Djamena Central Hospital to discuss ways to boost Egyptian support for the center by supplying additional dialysis machines to expand its operational capacity and alleviate the burden on patients.
Concluding their meeting, both ministers underscored the importance of continued coordination and cooperation in the coming stage to strengthen historical ties and support healthcare development in both nations. Upon arrival at N'Djamena International Airport, Abdel Ghaffar, along with Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and an Egyptian diplomatic delegation, were welcomed by Chad's Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Chadians Abroad Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul, highlighting the importance of the visit, which aims to deepen health cooperation.
