Cairo: Egypt is setting its sights on transforming its industrial landscape through a strategic partnership with the BRICS group. Hashem, speaking on behalf of the Egyptian government, outlined a comprehensive vision for industrial cooperation with BRICS, focusing on four pivotal areas.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Hashem emphasized the shift from merely trading finished goods to fostering joint production and enhancing local value addition. The strategy also prioritizes the support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the acceleration of digital industrial transformation coupled with human resource development, and the promotion of sustainable industrial development and a green transition, all while ensuring that the industries of developing nations are not overburdened.

Reaffirming Egypt's commitment, Hashem discussed the BRICS roadmap for cooperation in the photovoltaic industry, which includes technology, manufacturing, finance, research, and capacity building. He highlighted Egypt's focus on bolstering local renewable energy component manufacturing and increasing the use of clean energy within factories as part of this initiative.

In addition, Hashem expressed Egypt's intention to translate its BRICS engagement into tangible investment opportunities across various sectors such as engineering, automotive components, electronics, renewable energy, machinery, and industrial AI. This effort aims to advance Egypt's national industrial strategy significantly.

Concluding his remarks, Hashem reiterated Egypt's readiness to cultivate an ambitious and balanced industrial collaboration, positioning BRICS as a vital platform for joint production and amplifying the Voice of the Global South. The meeting also included reviews of the progress made by the BRICS Centre for Industrial Competences and the activities of the BRICS Innovation Centre in AI, smart manufacturing, and green transformation.
