Cairo: As part of ongoing preparations for the Egyptian-British Business Forum, to be held on the sidelines of the forthcoming visit by the UK Prime Minister to Egypt in early December, the first coordination meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Dr. Abdel Aziz El-Sherif, Head of the Egyptian Commercial Service. The meeting featured participation from the Egyptian Commercial Office in London, the British Embassy in Cairo, the UK Department for Business and Trade, and several relevant Egyptian authorities.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was attended by the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs, along with representatives from the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the National Telecom Regulatory Authority, the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the General Authority for Industrial Development, the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, the New and Renewable Energy Authority, the Supreme Council for Automotive Industry, and Egypt's Sovereign Fund.
Head of the Egyptian Commercial Service Dr. Abdel Aziz El-Sherif emphasized the meeting's role in aligning Egyptian and British efforts to ensure the forum's success through a comprehensive action plan that advances shared goals and bolsters bilateral economic ties.
The meeting addressed proposed sectors for the forum, aligning with Egypt's strategic priorities and mutual interests with the United Kingdom. These include renewable energy and green hydrogen, infrastructure, high-tech manufacturing, digital transformation and cybersecurity, as well as healthcare, education, and logistics services.
Dr. Abdel Aziz El-Sherif concluded that the Egyptian-British Business Forum underscores bilateral strategic ties and will serve as a key platform to boost economic and investment cooperation while fostering new public-private partnerships.
