Cairo: Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the National Initiative to Eliminate Waiting Lists for Critical Surgeries and Interventions and Roche Egypt to digitize and develop ophthalmology services.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdel Ghaffar stated that the protocol represents a significant step toward modernizing eye care services by developing an electronic system and digitally linking medical units. This initiative aims to enhance oversight, improve data management, accelerate service delivery, and raise the quality of healthcare provided to citizens. Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar mentioned that the protocol includes establishing an integrated database to support medical decision-making and improve patient follow-up, alongside forming a joint committee to monitor implementation and assess performance indicators.

He further noted that this cooperation reflects the ministry's strategy to strengthen partnerships with the private sector and introduce innovative digital solutions to support healthcare development. The protocol was signed by Ahmed Mostafa, Head of the General Authority for Health Insurance and supervisor of the National Initiative to Eliminate Waiting Lists, on behalf of the ministry, and Ziad Yasser Al-Ahwal, Roche Egypt's head of government affairs and health policy, on behalf of the company.
