Cairo: New Alamein City Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly announced that the cabinet is in the final stages of implementing directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, following meetings held this week. These directives were issued during the inauguration of the State's Strategic Command Headquarters in the New Capital. The cabinet convened for its weekly meeting on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the government headquarters in New Alamein City to assess several critical issues.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Prime Minister emphasized that the first directive focuses on enhancing food security through the "Future of Egypt" Project for Sustainable Development. This initiative, in collaboration with the ministries of supply and agriculture, aims to create an integrated program ensuring commodity availability and stabilizing prices. A detailed executive plan is expected to be presented to the cabinet shortly.
The second directive pertains to a media development plan, with preparations underway for a conference scheduled by the president for early December. The third directive addresses social protection and healthcare access for irregular workers, the self-employed, and workers abroad, with ongoing work in coordination with various ministries.
Madbouly also highlighted the regional political developments, noting the escalation of conflicts and their economic repercussions, particularly on oil supplies and navigation. The Prime Minister underscored President Sisi's earlier warnings about the severe consequences of military solutions and the necessity for diplomatic efforts. He noted the recent rise in global oil prices, which have climbed to $85 per barrel, and affirmed the government's commitment to mitigating these impacts.
Furthermore, Madbouly reported on progress at the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, where the reactor pressure vessel for the second unit was installed. This milestone follows the installation of the first unit's reactor pressure vessel and marks a significant step toward the project's completion by the end of 2028. The Prime Minister extended gratitude to the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the Nuclear Power Plants Authority, and their teams for their contributions to this monumental project.
Madbouly also reviewed his recent tour of New Alamein City, expressing appreciation for the progress achieved. He highlighted the city's development, pointing to the high occupancy rates and the operational commencement of several projects, which have attracted residents and tourists alike. The Prime Minister praised these advancements, noting that they contribute to the city's vibrancy and economic prospects.
