Cairo: Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir announced that New Alamein City is rapidly becoming an integrated smart city and a regional center for education, innovation, and scientific research, alongside its reputation as a premier urban and tourism destination.According to State Information Service Egypt, Wazir made these comments during an inspection tour of the New Alamein branch of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT). During his visit, he examined the academy's advanced educational, technological, and medical facilities, emphasizing its role in equipping professionals with the skills needed for modern job markets.The tour began with an inspection of the College of Artificial Intelligence, its high-tech laboratories, and educational technologies. Wazir also visited the teaching hospital and dental clinics, learning about the free medical services provided to over 200 local residents daily as part of the academy's community outreach.He reviewed the hospital's sta te-of-the-art equipment and visited the College of Engineering and Technology to assess its cutting-edge educational and research facilities. Wazir commended the AASTMT branch for its superior infrastructure and facilities, noting its role in preparing professionals to drive development in sectors like transport, logistics, engineering, artificial intelligence, and medical sciences.Wazir stated that New Alamein's rapid development showcases the success of Egypt's strategy to create integrated smart cities that blend urban development with education, research, healthcare, and industry, making it a promising urban center in the Middle East. He stressed that having a prestigious institution like AASTMT enhances New Alamein's standing as a hub for education and innovation, as well as a global destination for tourism and investment.He emphasized that investing in modern education and technology is crucial for future growth and for developing Egyptian human capital, preparing professionals to lead major nationa l projects. Under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's leadership, Egypt is advancing education and research as foundations for sustainable development and preparing generations to compete globally.AASTMT President Ismail Abdel Ghafar Farag detailed the capabilities of the New Alamein branch, which spans 62 feddans and started operations in 2019, with nine colleges including Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Artificial Intelligence. The branch has over 4,000 students and has graduated three cohorts from several colleges, with the first cohort from the College of Medicine graduating this year.Farag highlighted the branch's growth in producing graduates of international academic standards. Wazir concluded his visit by affirming continued state support for educational institutions, considering human development as key to building the New Republic. He underscored the importance of investments in education, research, and technology for sustaining development and enhancing Egypt's competitiveness.
