Cairo: Damietta Port received 15 general cargo and container ships over the past 24 hours, while 15 vessels departed, bringing the total number of ships undergoing loading and unloading operations to 24, and total handled vessels to 30.According to State Information Service Egypt, Damietta Port Authority media center reported that general cargo exports reached 13,444 tons. This included 4,500 tons of beet feed, 1,000 tons of urea, 5,000 tons of bagged gypsum, 162 tons of clinker, 250 tons of molasses, and 2,532 tons of miscellaneous goods.General cargo imports totaled 26,190 tons. The imports comprised 6,489 tons of scrap metal, 864 tons of beech wood, 922 tons of plywood, 15,415 tons of corn, and 2,500 tons of diverse goods. Additionally, container traffic recorded 1,002 TEUs exported, 323 TEUs imported, and 2,419 transit TEUs.The public sector grain silo at the port held 36,582 tons of wheat, while private sector stores held 27,390 tons. Total truck movement logged 4,699 trips, showcasing the port's significant logistical activity.The statement also highlighted the departure of the Ro-Ro vessel "GALLIPOLI SEAWAYS", which operates between Damietta and Italy's Trieste. The vessel departed on Friday after handling 4,411 tons of goods, including vegetables, fruits, aluminum cables, textiles, car wiring harnesses, LED switches, connectors, and private cars destined for several European countries and Morocco.
