Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Amr Talaat and Director of the Egyptian Military Academy Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher to discuss the progress of the 'Digilians' initiative, which is expected to become operational by September 2025.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting focused on the executive procedures necessary for launching the initiative. These include the creation of a registration platform, the completion of technological and engineering preparations, and the development of the infrastructure necessary to implement the initiative on schedule.
The Minister of Communications and Information Technology stated that the initiative is open to all young people across various academic and professional fields from all governorates. He emphasized that the selection process will be objective. The initiative will offer programs such as an intensive diploma, a specialized diploma, a professional master's degree, and an academic master's degree. These programs will be provided free of charge, including accommodation, living expenses, and training. The curriculum will cover technical, personal, linguistic, life, and leadership skills, along with freelancing skills.
The President also reviewed the various tracks of the initiative aimed at enhancing students' technical skills. Agreements are being established with international and local companies in Egypt to host trainees after their theoretical studies. This will help them acquire technical skills, support them in proposing technology-based projects, and participate in Egypt's digital initiatives. Additionally, trainees will receive assistance in creating accounts on freelancing platforms and securing practical projects.
President El-Sisi highlighted the importance of completing all executive procedures on time and exploring ways to expand the initiative's beneficiary base. This aims to significantly improve the quality and quantity of trained personnel in the communications and information technology sector.
Moreover, President El-Sisi directed efforts to collaborate with specialized entities in technological sciences, both locally and internationally, to enhance the linguistic, life, and leadership skills of Egyptian youth. This aligns with the state's strategy to build digital capabilities and develop technology-specialized cadres. He also underscored the need to continue implementing digital transformation plans and further enhance the state's technological infrastructure.
