Cairo: The General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) has announced the arrival of the sailing cruise ship Star Flyer at the Port of West Port Said. The Maltese-flagged vessel, which sailed from the Port of Alexandria, is carrying 103 passengers and 77 crew members for a one-day cruise itinerary.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Star Flyer is set to continue its voyage to the Port of Safaga. During the stopover, passengers will engage in a tourism program featuring visits to significant archaeological and historical landmarks in Ismailia Governorate, along with organized tours in the city of Port Said.
The necessary procedures for the vessel's reception were efficiently coordinated with relevant authorities, ensuring a smooth implementation of the tourism program and subsequent voyage to the Port of Safaga.
SCZONE highlighted that the reception of the Star Flyer is part of its strategy to enhance maritime tourism traffic and attract more cruise ships to its ports. This initiative leverages the strategic position of the Port of West Port Said at the northern entrance of the Suez Canal, aiming to strengthen its status on the global maritime tourism map.
The Star Flyer, a four-masted sailing cruise ship owned by Star Clippers Limited, was constructed in 1991 and underwent refurbishment in 2018. The ship measures 112 meters in length, 15 meters in beam, and has a draft of 5.8 meters.
