Cairo: Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid emphasized the importance of identifying and developing investment opportunities in Matrouh Governorate during a meeting with Governor Mohamed el-Zamlout. The focus was on preparing technical and economic studies to transform these opportunities into executable projects, aiming to create job opportunities and make optimal use of the governorate's resources.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting explored various investment proposals and discussed leveraging the investment systems introduced under Investment Law No 72 of 2017. This approach is intended to support development efforts, promote the localization of investments, and enhance productive and operational capacities in the region.
The discussions also covered the technical and economic requirements of the proposed projects, such as infrastructure, utilities, and energy needs. Minister Farid highlighted ongoing coordination with state bodies to increase the availability of land and develop integrated zones equipped to host projects. This aims to expedite establishment, operation, and production processes, providing investors with versatile options tailored to their needs.
Farid stressed the importance of private-sector participation in development and management activities, advocating for the involvement of specialized developers to improve the management of investment zones. This would create a more conducive environment for welcoming investments. He also underscored the necessity for state institutions to coordinate efforts to advance development across governorates, aligning investments with the unique advantages of each region and finalizing necessary studies for suitable development models.
Governor el-Zamlout noted the rising investment interest in Matrouh due to its strategic location, diverse resources, and the ongoing development in the North Coast region.
