The congress is held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and runs from November 12 to 15 under the theme "Empowering Individuals, Enhancing Progress, Providing Opportunities."
According to State Information Service Egypt, this strategy represents the cornerstone for a fundamental transformation in the role of the Ministry of Health and Population, aiming to establish it as the primary regulatory body for a dynamic, multi-stakeholder digital health system. The initiative is designed to ensure enhanced quality and foster a trusted environment for prosperity and innovation in both the public and private sectors.
Abdel Ghaffar emphasized that the National Digital Health Strategy is a comprehensive roadmap intended to develop Egypt's healthcare sector. It leverages information and communication technologies strategically to contribute to a more efficient, equitable, and sustainable healthy future. The strategy aims to create an integrated, people-centered digital health system by 2029, ensuring safe and equitable access to high-quality health services through secure, interoperable systems and unified national health data. This approach is expected to aid decision-makers and enhance service quality for citizens.
The minister noted that implementing this strategy will improve the performance and resilience of Egypt's healthcare system by supporting data-driven decision-making, facilitating access to digital health services, and increasing the health system's efficiency in addressing accelerating challenges. This effort aligns with the Egyptian state's direction towards developing an advanced digital health system, which is vital for building citizens' trust in health services and ensuring their sustainability.
On the sidelines of the launch, Abdel Ghaffar participated in a high-level dialogue session, underscoring the necessity of collective action and concerted efforts among various state entities to accelerate digital transformation. He highlighted that the strategy's success requires a comprehensive government approach supporting institutional work and ensuring continuity.
Abdel Ghaffar confirmed that the state prioritizes citizen health and regards digital transformation as a fundamental pillar for constructing a health system capable of adapting to changes and delivering high-quality services. He stated that the Health Ministry is committed to developing a secure and flexible digital infrastructure, enhancing the capabilities of health sector workers, and expanding innovation in service provision to meet citizens' needs.
He reiterated that digital transformation extends beyond technological development; it is an investment in people and an improvement of their experience within the health system, aligning with Egypt's vision for sustainable development.
