PM: Nile Medical City Egypt’s Largest Health Project

Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said the development project of the Nile Medical City, currently being built at the Nasser Institute Hospital, is the largest health sector project in the history of the Ministry of Health.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during his field tour on Saturday to various health facilities in Cairo and Giza, the premier emphasized that the project is under regular follow-up by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. The President has issued directives to expedite its implementation to transform the site into a world-class integrated medical city.

Madbouli was accompanied during the tour by Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber, and Sherif Mostafa, the Assistant Minister of Health for National Projects.

During the tour, Abdel Ghaffar stated that the Health Ministry is focused on expanding healthcare infrastructure across all governorates, with the Nile Medical City leading efforts to develop the largest medical complex in Egypt and the Middle East. He emphasized the Health Ministry's commitment to strict timelines and effective coordination to guarantee projects are completed on time to improve sustainable health services for citizens.

The Nile Medical City project spans 37 feddans with an estimated cost exceeding 8.5 billion pounds. The project includes a main hospital, a new extension building, an oncology center, an outpatient clinic building, a research center, physician housing, and a multi-story parking garage.

Once finalized, the facility's total capacity will reach 1,276 inpatient beds, 331 intensive care units, 95 neonatal incubators, 120 dialysis machines, 45 operating rooms, and 100 outpatient clinics. It will also feature specialized chemotherapy and radiotherapy departments equipped with linear accelerators and PET-CT units. The entire project is scheduled for full completion in March 2028.

Meanwhile, Madbouli reviewed the progress of the new female doctors' residence and the construction of the main building extension.
