Cairo: Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam engaged in discussions with senior officials from his ministry about advancing water management and distribution systems by upgrading the water monitoring and telemetry infrastructure. The meeting focused on the progress of current projects and strategies for expanding the telemetry network across the country.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting reviewed the advancements made by the Ministry's bodies in improving the water monitoring and telemetry system, with particular attention to providing cost-effective alternatives to existing telemetry systems. This initiative supports the ministry's broader plan to extend telemetry network coverage nationwide. Presentations by the Central Administration for Water Monitoring and Telemetry and the Mechanical and Electrical Research Institute were also discussed, outlining collaborative efforts to develop affordable solutions and address challenges in future development.

Minister Sewilam emphasized the ongoing efforts to enhance water condition monitoring efficiency through the telemetry system while broadening the geographical reach of the telemetry network as part of the Water 2.0 initiative. He noted the ministry's commitment to harnessing and localizing cutting-edge technologies to improve water resources management.

The minister highlighted the ministry's plan to refine water distribution and management, aiming to ensure that water discharges meet the actual needs of beneficiaries along each canal. This involves the replacement and maintenance of canal head regulators to optimize water flow.

During the meeting, Sewilam underscored the urgency of accelerating the development of the water monitoring and telemetry system, citing its crucial role in the ministry's water management strategy.
