Luxor: Minister of Investment Hassan el Khatib said that Luxor Governorate has significant investment potential that extends beyond tourism, with promising opportunities in industry and agriculture, making the governorate a comprehensive site for investment and sustainable development.
According to State Information Service Egypt, in a press conference at the Luxor governorate headquarters following meetings with local investors, el Khatib said that the governorate remains one of the world's leading tourism destinations, with about 11,000 hotel rooms, noting that tourism revenues surpassed $19 billion this year.
He said this performance supports the national economy and creates room for productive and service-based projects linked to local demand and exports.
The minister added that Luxor's economic diversity strengthens its appeal to investors, particularly in tourism-related industries, agriculture, and agro-processing, which can raise added value and create new jobs.
He also highlighted recent growth in higher education, with several new universities helping to prepare skilled workers aligned with market and investment demands.
El Khatib also added that investors discussed proposals to attract international students to study in Egypt, describing education as a promising investment area that could strengthen Egypt's role as a regional destination for higher education.
Additionally, the minister said that the talks also covered ways to boost investment volumes through the General Authority for Investment, as well as the available incentives and measures to improve the business environment in Luxor.
He reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to supporting investors nationwide and maintaining a competitive business climate that supports inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
