Cairo: Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir received Sudan's Minister of Industry and Trade, Mohassen Ali Yaqoub, and her accompanying delegation to discuss ways of advancing bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation in industrial and commercial integration.
According to State Information Service Egypt, El-Wazir reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to welcoming Arab brethren, particularly the Sudanese people, emphasizing the deep historical and geographical ties between the two countries. He stressed the importance of reinforcing cooperation with Sudan and providing full support in the industrial and commercial sectors to promote sustainable development and shared prosperity for both nations.
The discussions focused on mechanisms to enhance industrial cooperation and facilitate trade flows, outlining the Egyptian Ministry of Industry's vision for achieving industrial integration with Sudan. This vision involves leveraging Sudan's raw materials and available labor to establish joint industrial projects that generate added value and bolster both economies.
Key areas of proposed cooperation include the livestock and hides sector, with plans to establish mechanized slaughterhouses and advanced tanneries in Sudan. The pharmaceutical sector is another area of interest, with opportunities to set up factories in Sudan specializing in veterinary medicines. Additionally, the fertilizer sector is targeted, with feasibility studies being prepared for launching fertilizer plants in Sudan to support agricultural development and deepen industrial integration between the two countries.
El-Wazir also highlighted the ministry's readiness to mobilize its affiliated entities to support Sudan, particularly in training and capacity building. This includes utilizing the Productivity and Vocational Training Authority for skills development, technology centers for technical support, and the General Authority for Standards and Quality for specialized training programs aligned with international standards. He further emphasized the importance of integrating Sudanese counterparts into Egypt's exhibition system to showcase Sudanese industrial visions and products, thereby strengthening commercial ties.
Minister Mohassen Ali Yaqoub expressed appreciation for Egypt's progress in industry and transport, affirming Sudan's aspiration to transfer and localize these experiences. She highlighted the importance of utilizing Sudan's natural resources through strategic partnerships and confirmed Sudan's readiness to offer facilities and incentives to attract Egyptian investors and manufacturers, supporting the economic development of both countries.
