Cairo: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour held a meeting with Chadian Minister of State for Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Vocational Training Tom Ardimi.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Ashour emphasized the depth of relations between Egypt and Chad, highlighting Egypt's commitment to strengthening these ties through academic, research, and scientific partnerships. He pointed out that collaboration in higher education and scientific research is crucial for achieving sustainable development in both countries.
Dr. Ashour stressed the importance of enhancing academic and research collaboration between Egyptian and Chadian institutions. He advocated for increased communication between the two sides and opening opportunities for scientific and academic partnerships that address national priorities and build human capacity.
Furthermore, he highlighted the Ministry's 'EGAID' initiative aimed at attracting international students to Egyptian universities. He reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting Chadian students through the Study in Egypt program, focusing on improving services provided to international students.
Dr. Ashour also noted ongoing efforts to establish a branch of Alexandria University in Chad. This branch will be equipped with advanced technological facilities and staffed with qualified personnel, offering programs aligned with labor market needs to provide a high-quality educational experience and support Chad's educational advancement.
Dr. Ardimi expressed admiration for Egypt's developments in higher education and research over recent years. He emphasized Chad's interest in strengthening cooperation with Egyptian universities to build national capacities across different fields.
The meeting also discussed mechanisms to encourage Chadian students to study in Egypt, leveraging advancements in Egypt's higher education system and modernized administrative procedures under the Study in Egypt initiative. Scholarship opportunities offered by Egypt to Chadian students were also reviewed.
Both sides agreed on establishing a joint committee to explore mechanisms for enhancing scientific, academic, and research cooperation.
