FM Holds Intensive Phone Calls to De-escalate Regional Tensions at Sisi’s Directives

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held extensive phone calls with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian, Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi, and the US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff. The calls come at the directive of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions focused on the rapid developments in the region, with participants emphasizing the need to de-escalate tensions and prevent further instability and chaos. The conversations stressed the importance of creating an environment conducive to diplomatic solutions and achieving political settlements that promote regional security and stability.

The discussions also addressed the evolving situation in Gaza and the transition to the second phase of US President Donald Trump's plan. They underscored the importance of moving forward with the commitments of this phase, which include forming a Palestinian technocratic committee, deploying an international stabilization force to observe the ceasefire, implementing the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and preparing for early recovery and reconstruction efforts.

The calls highlighted Egypt's pivotal role and intensive efforts in supporting de-escalation processes, enhancing stability, and bolstering security across the region.
