Cairo: Within the framework of ongoing negotiations on the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, the Egyptian commercial service Headquarters hosted a meeting of the technical teams involved in the negotiations. The meeting was attended by the Minister Plenipotentiary for Trade, Dr. Abdel Aziz El-Sherif, First Undersecretary of the Ministry and Head of the Egyptian Commercial Service, and Mr. Ayoub Ahli, Assistant Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting addressed and reviewed several chapters of the agreement of mutual importance. Three main chapters were discussed: the first chapter on services, the second on rules of origin, and the third on digital trade. This discussion took place within the framework of joint efforts aimed at strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and developing partnership frameworks that keep pace with global economic changes and support the flow of trade and investment.
The technical teams are scheduled to resume their meetings early next year to continue discussing the remaining chapters of the agreement, with the aim of concluding the negotiations within the agreed timeframe. In this context, the Minister Plenipotentiary for Trade, Dr. Abdel Aziz El-Sherif, stated that the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and the UAE witnessed remarkable growth, reaching approximately $6.16 billion during the period from January to August 2025, compared to approximately $3.08 billion during the same period in 2024, achieving a growth rate of 100%.
El-Sherif explained that Egyptian exports to the UAE recorded an unprecedented surge during the period from January to August 2025, reaching a value of approximately $4.69 billion, compared to $1.74 billion during the same period in 2024, representing an increase of 169%. This reflects the growing competitiveness of Egyptian products and the success of efforts to enhance their access to Gulf markets.
He also noted that Egyptian imports from the UAE increased, reaching approximately $1.47 billion during the first eight months of 2025, compared to approximately $1.34 billion during the same period in 2024, representing an increase of 9.7%. The head of the Egyptian Commercial Service affirmed that these positive indicators reflect the strength and solidity of economic and trade relations between Egypt and the UAE.
