Cairo: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty engaged in a phone conversation with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to discuss the latest developments and repercussions of the recent regional escalation.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the call was part of ongoing consultations and coordination between Egypt and Qatar on issues of mutual interest. During the conversation, both ministers emphasized the need to contain the current tensions and prevent any further escalation of the conflict.
The ministers urged all involved parties to prioritize diplomatic efforts and dialogue, advocating for a return to the negotiating table. This move is aimed at implementing the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran, which is seen as a step toward reaching a final agreement that could ease tensions and enhance regional security and stability.
Abdelatty also reiterated Egypt's condemnation of recent attacks against several Gulf countries and Jordan, underscoring the importance of respecting the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of these nations, along with all Arab Gulf states.
