Al alamain city: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, alongside key ministers including Minister of Social Solidarity Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Dr. Sherif Farouk, and Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Mr. Alaa El-Din Farouk. The meeting also included Major General Amr Adel, Chairman of the Administrative Control Authority, and Colonel Dr. Bahaa El-Ghannam, Executive Director of Egypt's Future Authority for Sustainable Development.
According to African Press Organization, the discussions focused on the state of Egypt's food security system, addressing the production and distribution of strategic commodities, and ensuring a secure stock is available for an adequate timeframe amidst current regional events. It was noted that the stock levels of essential commodities are satisfactory, with some inventories sufficient to meet domestic demands for almost a year.
The meeting reviewed the technological infrastructure of the "Future of Egypt" silo complex, aimed at bolstering the nation's food security and maintaining a strategic reserve for crisis situations. Social protection initiatives, particularly through the "Takaful and Karama" Fund, were also discussed to ensure adequate support for vulnerable citizen groups, with President El-Sisi stressing the importance of focusing on the poorest citizens.
Additionally, discussions covered the proposed cash and commodity support program, a modern development tool used globally to enhance social justice and empower citizens. The President also examined updates to the ration card system, ensuring support reaches the intended beneficiaries while safeguarding their rights.
The subsidized bread loaf system and the establishment of strategic bakeries across Egypt were also on the agenda, with 300 bakeries planned in the initial phase. The performance of the National Food Safety Authority was evaluated to ensure market food quality.
President El-Sisi emphasized achieving self-sufficiency in strategic commodities, maintaining secure stocks for market stability, and developing partnerships with the private sector. He directed efforts towards refining subsidy mechanisms to ensure support reaches eligible groups effectively.
