Cairo: Official spokesperson for the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Mohamed el Qersh asserted that Egypt currently achieves 60% self-sufficiency in red meat and has reached near-complete self-sufficiency in poultry.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Qersh explained in televised remarks that the government's comprehensive strategy to enhance food security includes veterinary services aimed at developing and safeguarding the livestock sector to ensure the availability of safe, high-quality meat and animal products.
He added that ongoing inspection campaigns targeting veterinary pharmaceutical centers are part of a broader national effort to ensure high standards of animal healthcare. These inspections aim to guarantee the quality of services offered, verify legal licensing, and ensure the safety of veterinary medicines available in the market.
Qersh emphasized that these measures are crucial to safeguarding animal health, thereby strengthening Egypt's food production capacity.
