Cairo: Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with Dr. Haitham Ibrahim Awadallah, Minister of Health of Sudan, at the Ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to discuss ways to enhance health cooperation between the two countries. The meeting included Ambassador Emad El-Din Mustafa, the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Egypt, along with several senior officials from both sides.
According to State Information Service Egypt, discussions during the meeting focused on mechanisms to enhance cooperation in epidemic control, strengthening the Sudanese health system, and emergency response coordination. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar emphasized Egypt's commitment to supporting Sudan, highlighting the delivery of 200,000 cartons of infant formula, 200 oxygen cylinders, and expanded collaboration in the pharmaceutical sector.
The two sides reviewed the progress of a project supporting Sudanese kidney failure patients residing in Egypt, implemented in cooperation with the World Health Organization and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center. They agreed to dispatch an Egyptian medical convoy to Osman Digna Hospital in Port Sudan, comprising leading physicians to provide specialized medical and surgical services.
Dr. Haitham Ibrahim expressed appreciation for Egypt's support, commending the strong relations between the two countries. Both ministers emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration to further strengthen health cooperation, reflecting the historic bonds between Egypt and Sudan.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Amr Kandil, Deputy Minister of Health, Ambassador Karim Mukhtar, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and health officials from both countries.
