Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, called for intensified efforts to de-escalate tensions and prevent further escalation in the region.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during a phone call, the ministers emphasized the critical importance of safeguarding navigation in the Red Sea, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of international trade in line with international law and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. They highlighted the significance of these measures in maintaining regional stability and fostering economic growth.

The ministers also lauded the recent strides made in Egyptian-German relations, expressing their mutual commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
