Cairo: The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has announced the winners of its amateur photography competition, recognizing the top ten entries. The contest aimed to spotlight the best photographs of underwater artifacts recovered from the Mediterranean Sea, which are displayed at the Graeco-Roman Museum and the Alexandria National Museum. This announcement marked the conclusion of the Underwater Cultural Heritage events organized by the ministry.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Ahmed Rahima, the Assistant Minister for Human Resources Development and General Supervisor of the Central Training Unit, presented the results. Rahima noted the competition attracted 155 contestants from Egypt and six other Arab and foreign countries, with participants submitting over 750 photographs.
Rahima emphasized that the ministry intended the prizes to motivate winners to engage with and promote awareness of underwater cultural heritage. The rewards include free trips to archaeological sites and museums, as well as complimentary passes to enter museums and archaeological sites.
