Doha: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said that top priorities for the government include following up on national textile-industry development projects to boost production capacity, besides reviewing plans to make better use of state-owned assets. Madbouly made the remarks during his meeting with Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Justice Adnan Fangari, Minister of Public Business Sector Mohamed Shimi, Alexandria Governor Ahmed Khaled Hassan, and some officials from ministries and authorities concerned.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting reviewed progress in upgrading textile companies nationwide, Cabinet Spokesperson Mohamed el Homosany said. The officials made a presentation of development components, completion rates, target production capacities, and plans to secure needed cotton and raw materials.
The government noted that upgrades-covering over one million square meters-include new construction and modern machinery. The development aims to raise annual yarn production from 29,000 to 133,000 tons, fabric from 25 million to 198 million square meters, and ready-made garments from 8 million to 40 million pieces, the spokesperson said.
