Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdelatty discussed during his meeting with Afrah Abdel Aziz Al-Zouba, Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs the course of Egyptian-Yemeni relations and ways to build on the historic ties between the two countries to expand areas of cooperation and joint coordination.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was held on the sidelines of the 166th session of the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level, being held in Cairo Monday. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's steadfast position in support of Yemen's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, affirming Egypt's support for all efforts aimed at restoring security and stability in Yemen and alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people.

He stressed the importance of pursuing a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement to the Yemeni crisis through dialogue and political solutions in a manner that meets the aspirations of the Yemeni people and preserves the country's national resources and institutions. The meeting also addressed the challenges facing the region and their implications for the security of the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

Both sides underscored the importance of preserving the security and freedom of navigation in international waterways, as well as the need to intensify efforts to contain tensions and prevent the conflict from expanding, thereby contributing to enhanced security and stability in the region.
