Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli stated that preparations are in progress for the 2026 Thanaweya Amma (general secondary) exams, emphasizing the importance of implementing all necessary measures to secure the examination process at the highest level. He highlighted the need to address any cheating attempts with strict penalties to ensure equal opportunities for all students.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouli made these remarks during a meeting with Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif and other officials involved in overseeing the Thanaweya Amma exam arrangements. The education minister noted that strict procedures would be enforced to deter both individual and group cheating. He added that clear definitions of exam violations and the corresponding penalties would be made public before the exams commence.
Abdel Latif emphasized that cheating would be dealt with decisively. In line with this, Madbouli instructed that all exam classrooms be equipped with surveillance cameras. The education minister mentioned that 90-95 percent of the Thanaweya Amma exam classrooms are already equipped with surveillance, with full installation expected to be completed nationwide before the exams begin.
