Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli inspected Azbakeya Garden after finalization of its restoration, preparing for its official reopening. The premier was accompanied by Minister of Local Development Manal Awad, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Sherif el Sherbiny, and Governor of Cairo Ibrahim Saber Khalil.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Head of the National Organization for Urban Harmony Mohamed Abu Saada also accompanied Madbouli, alongside Head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction Mahmoud Nassar, Chairman of Arab Contractors Ahmed el Assar, Country Director for UN-Habitat Egypt Ahmed Rezk, as well as senior officials from the housing and local development ministries, Cairo governorate, and relevant bodies.

Housing Minister Sherif el Sherbiny emphasized that Azbakeya Garden is one of Cairo's oldest parks and a major green space within the plan of Khedivial Cairo. He noted that the Ministry of Housing undertook its restoration as part of the Historic Cairo revitalization program, aiming to restore the garden's status as a cultural and recreational landmark.

The project is part of a broader initiative to revive Khedivial Cairo, which includes redeveloping historic theater spaces, the new Azbakeya book market, the fencing club, Opera Garage, heritage buildings along Qasr El Nil Street, the Bourse passages, and El Tawheed Mosque. During the tour, Sherbiny showcased the garden's restored features, including the historic lake, fountain, Roman theater, pergolas, cafeteria, restaurant, and boundary walls.

Prime Minister Madbouli directed the development of a comprehensive operational plan to ensure efficient management and long-term preservation of the garden, safeguarding the substantial restoration efforts.

Additionally, Madbouli inspected the new Azbakeya book market, where the Housing Minister detailed the implementation rate of book kiosks covering 805 square meters, along with upgraded public facilities such as restrooms and an administration building. The Prime Minister handed over contracts to several kiosk owners relocated from the old Azbakeya wall, expressing the state's commitment to supporting booksellers in a modern and organized manner.

Booksellers expressed appreciation for the new market, highlighting their pride in participating in this transformation and their readiness to operate in a clean and civilized environment in line with Egypt's vision for the New Republic.
