Robbeki city: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli inspected the project to upgrade and rehabilitate the leather tanning technology center in Robbeki Leather City, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Industry.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the premier was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Transport Minister Kamel El Wazir and a host of respective officials. El Wazir highlighted that the center's main objectives include assisting small-scale manufacturers in Robbeki by providing access to modern tanning techniques and equipment. Additionally, the center will offer technical training under Italian supervision, aiming to prepare a new generation of skilled youth to operate the machinery.
The center also seeks to enhance production quality to boost Egyptian exports and attract both foreign and domestic investments for final product manufacturing. This initiative is expected to contribute to establishing Robbeki as a specialized global city for leather production. During the visit, the premier was briefed about efforts on upgrading the center and increasing its efficiency.
The rehabilitation investment for the center amounts to EGP50 million, along with a 6 million Euro grant from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. This grant encompasses advanced equipment, staff training in Italy, and technical support to establish and promote the "Made in Robbeki" brand for export growth. Originally established in 2007, the center played a crucial role in supporting the relocation of tanneries from the Ain El Sira area.
Post-rehabilitation, the center is set to become a model for public-private partnership, as its technical and financial management has been entrusted to a private sector company, Al Robbeki for tanning technology.
