Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and First Lady Entissar El-Sisi received Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife at the Ittihadiya Palace on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. An official welcoming ceremony was held for the Chinese president upon his arrival at the palace, accompanied by a 21-gun salute marking his visit to Egypt.

According to State Information Service Egypt, military bands played the national anthems of Egypt and China during the ceremony. President El-Sisi extended his greetings to members of the Chinese president's delegation, who reciprocated by shaking hands with senior Egyptian state officials.
