South sinai: Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy have taken decisive action in response to a tragic bus rollover accident on the Dahab-Nuweiba road near the Saada area towards Nuweiba in the South Sinai Governorate.According to State Information Service Egypt, Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar reported that the ministry's central operations room was activated immediately after the accident was reported on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. In an urgent response, 20 ambulances were dispatched to the scene to evacuate the injured and provide necessary first aid. Initial assessments indicated that 28 passengers sustained injuries and were transported to medical facilities for comprehensive care. Tragically, 16 individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, with official procedures currently underway.Health Minister Abdel Ghaffar instructed Ahmed el-Sobky, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare, to ensure that the highest level of medical care is provided to the injured. This includes the availability of essential medical supplies and medicines, along with continuous coordination with relevant authorities in South Sinai. The ministry is operating at full capacity to manage the situation efficiently, with continuous monitoring around the clock. Condolences were extended to the families of the victims, and wishes for a speedy recovery were conveyed to the injured.Simultaneously, Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy has directed the ministry's Central Administration for Social Protection head to collaborate with the director of the South Sinai Social Solidarity Directorate and the Egyptian Red Crescent relief team. Their aim is to deliver emergency relief interventions, provide urgent assistance, and take all necessary measures in response to the accident. Morsy also expressed her condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the swift recovery of those injured.
