Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inspected the expansions of the Mars Egypt factory in 6th of October City, Giza, as part of his ongoing tour to inaugurate and inspect various factories and production facilities.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during the inspection, Prime Minister Madbouly emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering an attractive investment environment to encourage both local and foreign investments. The objective is to entice global companies to inject new investments into the Egyptian market or expand their existing operations, thereby supporting their plans to launch from Egypt into global markets.
During the visit, Mohamed Fawzy, the regional director of Mars, briefed the Prime Minister, revealing that the factory, which commenced production in 2005, has seen its investments grow to approximately USD 500 million. Fawzy highlighted that the investments made over the past decade have been pivotal for the company in establishing new production lines globally. He noted that Mars Egypt represents one of the largest US investments in Egypt in the fast-moving consumer goods sector over the past two years, with financing entirely sourced from the parent company in the United States.
Fawzy further reported a significant increase in exports from the factory, which surged by 259% in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, reaching USD 86 million. This growth has positioned the company as the largest chocolate exporter in Egypt and the second-largest food exporter during the first quarter of the year, according to the Food Export Council. Exports constitute 93% of the total production, with products reaching 58 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Australia.
Osama Helal, the factory manager, informed that all eight production lines are equipped with the latest global technologies in artificial intelligence and robotics. This ensures 100% product safety and minimizes errors. He also mentioned that 70% of production inputs are sourced locally, and 100% of packaging materials are supplied by local vendors.
