Cairo: Egypt and Yemen share deep-rooted historical, academic, and cultural ties, Grand Mufti Nazir Ayyad emphasized, highlighting the necessity to bolster cooperation between religious institutions to counter extremism and promote moderation and coexistence.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Ayyad made these remarks during a meeting with Yemen's Minister of Endowments and Guidance, Turki Al-Wadaei. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 11th International Conference of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide. The discussions focused on expanding coordination and exchanging expertise in training imams, muftis, and preachers, as well as developing religious discourse and confronting extremist ideologies.

Al-Wadaei commended Egypt's efforts in promoting moderate religious thought and acknowledged Dar al-Ifta's role in advancing fatwa work. He stressed the importance of ongoing collaboration between the religious institutions of the two countries, aiming to strengthen their collective ability to address and mitigate extremist ideologies.
